Effect of Yoga Breathing (Pranayama) on Exercise Tolerance in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Randomized, Controlled Trial

A randomized controlled pilot trial led by David A. Kaminsky and colleagues from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, and private yoga practices investigated whether 12 weeks of Dirgha Pranayama, a simple Three-Part Yoga Breath, could improve walking capacity and breathing-related outcomes. The findings suggest an intriguing role for accessible, home-based pranayama practice.
